The treatment is really simple
At the first sign of athlete`s foot, you should begin a targeted and consistent treatment so that the infection does not spread any further. In order to do this, an excellent anti-fungal medication is necessary. This kind of a product, such as Canesten®, can be obtained at your pharmacy without a prescription.

Canesten®, a state of the art anti-fungal product, contains an active ingredient that is particularly effective against dermatophytes, which are the most common pathogens in athlete`s foot infections, and also against yeasts, moulds, and some bacteria. Canesten® can be purchased as a cream, a solution, an atomizer spray, and an aerosol spray for acute and preventative treatment, or as a powder as a follow up measure.

The newest product in the Canesten® line, Canesten® Extra, needs to be applied just once a day, since the active ingredient persists in the skin for a particularly long time. Aside from that, Canesten® Extra works simultaneously against the inflammation associated with athlete`s foot and the unpleasant itchiness and burning symptoms.

So that athlete`s foot completely disappears, the therapy must carried out regularly and for long enough. Therefore, it is advisable to wait for two weeks after the disappearance of visible symptoms on the skin until you stop treatment. The athlete`s foot should be healed after a total of between 3 and 4 weeks.

Athlete`s foot in treatment:
Seven steps to success

1.

Get a proper anti-fungal product like Canesten® or Canesten® Extra at the pharmacy.

2.

Wash your feet thoroughly every day and dry them with a fresh towel each time, especially in between the toes, and apply Canesten®.

3.

Wash your hands thoroughly after each application and use only your own towel so that the fungi do not spread.

4.

Wear breathable shoes and socks, and switch them daily.

5.

Use the anti-fungal therapy consistently and continue treatment until two weeks after symptoms have disappeared.

6.

Preventative measures, such as powdering shoes and socks with an anti-fungal powder, are recommended.

7.

Wash your clothes with an anti-fungal laundry product,
e.g. Canesten® hygiene laundry rinse.

Don`t give athlete`s foot a chance
Even if it is easy to treat, don`t even let it have a chance!

In the sauna or swimming pool locker room, you should always wear sandals as a preventative measure. At the first hint of athlete`s foot, treat your feet with Canesten® aerosol spray just in case. This way fungi don`t have a chance to establish themselves on your feet and to cause athlete's foot.

Change your shoes and socks every day. Both should be of the most 'breathable' material possible (e.g. leather, cotton).

Wash your feet daily and dry especially well between the toes!

If you, or a family member, has athlete`s foot, don`t walk barefoot and don`t share towels, nail brushes, nail clippers, etc. with other family members. In order to prevent infection within the family, you can wash your clothes with an anti-fungal product, e.g. Canesten® hygiene laundry rinse, which is effective even in a cold water wash.
